No, you haven't received a mistaken summer email from the great beyond. I've decided to make this March email all about the promise of Flowers!!! I’m writing on a magnificently sunny day after days of snow (shoveling), single digit temperatures (bundling up to be outside), and fog like I’ve never seen this time of year (what the heck?!). The birds have pulled are beginning to belt out their new spring tunes and even the people I passed on my walk have warm-smile greetings and a spring in their step. Days like this always feel “earned” somehow. We made it through the winter and the divine Holy decides to shine a warming gift upon our weary faces. Yesterday afternoon I put on my winter gear and sat under my favorite Walnut tree overseeing the hemp field. Eyes closed, face turned towards the sun, I rested in the winter sun’s embrace and listened to the male Bluebirds sing their songs of vigor, territory and maybe a little “pick me” to the girls. Perhaps they sang their gratitude as well. We made it. Spring’s whispering her return. We finally caught a little spring fever and started 50 White Sage seeds whose home will be the center of the medicine wheel this year. Even though it’s the best germination rate so far, 50 sage plants aren’t going to be enough under all the external conditions we find our country in. So, Kris & I will be starting 50 more on the next “leaf” day of the biodynamic calendar. We want an abundance of this beautiful plant being to share with folks who want to clear the air/energies around them. What literal seeds will you plant for this next growing season? Not sure? Please keep reading. 🙂🌿 This month’s pondering focuses on our role as a "custodial species". As Tyson Yunkaporta simply stated in Sand Talk: “Some new cultures keep asking, “Why are we here?” It's easy…We look after things on the earth and in the sky and the places in between." We fulfill our interdependent role here by tending the world around us. The land, the critters, each other. We weave the web of interconnection by offering our attention and our working hands to the Holy around us. Weavers of connection. Any. Small. Act. Remembering & acting out our tending role IS the medicine for these times. Tending will guide us home. To the life around us. Home to each other. I’m talking about the whole world of creation when I say “each other”...plants, soil, microbes, rocks, fish, water, trees, flying critters, furry critters, birds, people….everyone. Our belonging is to the web of life. Not sure where to start? Let’s start small. I have one particular green one in mind. Don't have acres of gardens? Or tons of time? Not to worry, you can plant this friend in a pot. Don’t be fooled by her unassuming nature, this little flower holds a lot of power as well as incredible beauty. Let me introduce our friend, Calendula. Happy orange and yellow flowers bloom in 33 days from germination. Even the most impatient folks can hold out for 33 days. An added bonus; if you pinch the flowers (harvest them) she’ll keep blooming until a killing frost We’ve had flowers into November. Let a few of the flowers go by without pinching and you’ll have seeds for next year. Your investment in one package of seeds the first year will begin a lifelong relationship with this magical creature. Flowers for medicine, flower petals for decorating cakes and beautifying salads, and seeds to plant & share for the next year. Joy for months. Consider this your invitation to plant Calendula seeds and spend the next 6 months learning her medicine ways. Maybe plant extra incase your community needs Calendula's medicine. Most seed companies have Calendula officianalis, that's the fancy Latin name of the medicinal species you'll find on the seed package. Happenings At HeartstoneEvery year I get to hang with folks for 6 months as we grow Cannabis together. It is one of my all time favorite classes I teach. I LOVE sharing the experience with folks. I love the excitement and the sweetness that comes out as folks tend this Mentor plant. We always have a range of folks; from the newbies who've never grown any green friend to the old time gardeners learning a new ally. We all share the excitement of forming a new relationship with this year's batch of medicine. More information will be forthcoming in the next few weeks in our "not regularly scheduled" emails. If you know right now you want to join, great! Here's the link. Still not sure what this Cannabis growing thing is all about? I'll have a three part webinar series, How's It Growing, coming up where I'll blab about things to consider if you want to grow Cannabis. This three part series will take you through the process of identifying your personal needs for medicine, choosing the right seed and understanding basic concepts for growing. The first webinar on March 25th will be The Herb Cannabis. We will address the “why” by getting in touch with the possible needs of an individual and how Cannabis can help. In the next webinar on April 1st will be All About Seeds. We will dive into the wide world of cultivar selection. Who should you grow given your bioregion and your needs identified in the first webinar. Lastly, on April 8th in the Seed To Harvest webinar we will explore basic concepts to consider for setting up your garden and enjoy a pictorial process of the growing season. All Webinars are Wednesdays 6:30 - 7:30 PM EST Click here if you want to receive the info for the webinar series Other HappeningsOur friend, colleague and the woman who brought you all those nourishing & delicious meals here at Heartstone, Sharon Costianes, is offering...... Elusive AuthenticityA 4-week somatic series on self trust and authentic expression If you’re someone who cares about justice, equity, and collective well-being, you know that sustained engagement requires a regulated nervous system. This class series offers a way to restore capacity and responsiveness, so you can stay present and effective in the world without losing connection to yourself. Elusive Authenticity is an online somatic class series for women and gender-expansive folks who want to come back into clearer relationship with themselves—not by fixing habits or chasing insight, but by learning how to listen to the body with more precision and trust. Through gentle, awareness-based movement, we’ll explore how your nervous system organizes under pressure: where effort increases, where sensation goes quiet, and how choice narrows without you noticing. From this place of awareness, something simple but meaningful becomes possible—more room to respond instead of react. Elusive Authenticity is led by Sharon Costianes, a Guild Certified Feldenkrais® Practitioner and somatic educator with more than 20 years of experience guiding people back into relationship with themselves. Sharon has spent decades working with bodies and nervous systems in moments of vulnerability, transition, and change—and she knows how to hold space without rushing, fixing, or taking over. This from John Seed. ❤️
This month let's chat about the Lunch Box. This 7 pack of 0.75 gram prerolls showcases 4 of my favorite cultivars. First of all, Pinkleberry. This is the Pinkleberry spoken of during my lectures.😜 She's quite cosmic with absolutely zero myrcene ~ translate that to mean, not sleepy at all. The award winning Tropicana Cookies with her orangy happy goodness is lovely for enjoying almost anything. Blackberry Kush, my oldest friend of the pack is on the calmer, pain relieving end of the spectrum. Finally Dogwalker OG is a sedating gassy powerful punch.
Get them here for $52.
Tis the maple sugaring time of year. I still have these delicious nostalgic candies in stock. I formulated them for an uplifting fun time with a mix of Tropicana cookies, Blackberry Kush and Blueberry Muffin infused ghee to add to the maple syrup. I weighed out each candy and labeled them in their package so you'll know exactly what you're getting for a dose. They all came in 10-15 mgs of THC for each.
Get your Maple goodness here for $11 each.
ok friends, deep breaths, deep prayers, find kindness.
xx

The growing season is rapidly approaching! Yay! Insert happy dance. Five years ago I created the Grow course for folks who wanted to grow their own cannabis medicine (yes, high CBD “hemp” is cannabis). This marks the fifth year offering the course and I must say, it is my favorite (shhh, don’t tell the others). I love this 6-month journey with folks as they learn about themselves and cannabis while they tend their plants from the tiny seed to the dried flowers of harvest. Yes, the world is...
The Sun Returns! Every February seed catalogues pile up. Folks start posting photos of themselves buying their seeds and I get a little panicked. “Wait, I’m not ready yet!” I don’t even want to see the catalogues. Truth be told, I have already purchased a few packets from our Co-op, so who am I kidding? 😜 Yes, to quote my wife, "Many things can be true at one time." Energetically, this time of year I want to stay in the nesting/dreaming phase and burrow under my blankets a little longer. I’m...
